PERVERSENESS OF THE JURY

“When the judiciary of a country chose the path of falsehood, the heartless political gladiators become untamed, anarchy is invited to the podium and the citizens will prefer to employ violence to take their rights by force.”

I hear people say that the judiciary is the last hope of the common men. That’s not the case in my country, the reality in Nigeria is that, justice can be bought by money. By implication, justice belongs to the highest bidder irrespective of his/her criminal accounts.

It is more lucrative to be the judge of any high or appeal court in my country, than in any other parts of the world, the reason is not far fetched, our politicians swim in the pool of corruption, and the only way to escape the sword of the law is to sacrifice marmon at the altar of the heartless jury.

Men of dead conscience on the seat of judgement, their lips are stained with blood of the innocents, they belong to the same league with those that bedeviled the masses, they only wear the camouflage of morality, but they are products of decadence that has eaten up the fabrics of our collective values.

Pharisees of the twenty-first century they are, they stripped justice of her garment and deck corruption with the costliest attire in the court room. They appreciate blood stained gifts better than their oath of calling.

Oh how my country is blessed with league of unrighteous judges. Even the chief among them is a wanted criminal.

I only hope that something somehow will deliver justice out of the hands of these cannibals before they strip life out of her.

Our constitution has lost it power, it interpretation is lopsided to favour the few privileged. Common man becomes hopeless because justice has been compromised.

Nigeria is on the edge of the cliff, I only hope to see her rescued before the masses employ violence against the heartless leadership.

But for the jury, her madness has become incurable.
