THE COST OF GLOBAL PEACE

Which topics would you like to be more informed about?

In a world of chaos and conflicts,

Where world leaders are confused and perplexed,

And innocent lives in their thousands

Are daily sent to their early graves,

There I stopped to ask,

What is the cost of global peace?

Compendium of literatures are littered

In our book stores,

All counseling on the global path to peace,

But neither our leaders nor their lieutenants

Have taken time to reflect,

As they are daily driven by self,

To throw the world into the den

Of chaos, conflicts and calamities,

There I stood to ask,

What is the cost of global peace?

When NATO accuses Putin on the

Invasion of Ukraine,

And Putin accuses NATO on the

Invasion of Libya and other African shores,

As none is ready to step back for a redress,

Then I asked,

What is the cost of global peace.

When the unjust accuses an unjust,

For an unjust act and actions,

And commentators have soon forgotten,

That the accuser is also an unjust,

There I wander in thought,

What is the cost of global peace?

The globe is sitting on gun powder,

Just a spark is needed for an explosion,

Are we really ready for third world war?

What is the cost of global peace?

Neocolonialism still hangs up Africa,

African leaders and and their Western

Accomplices are daily sweetened

By the tears and the sweat of helpless

Populace on African shores,

And African democracy is daily threatening,

As men in uniform are on stage with guns,

Then I asked,

What is the cost of global peace.

The middle East is not getting better,

Daily bombing across Lebanon, Syria,

Jordan, Iraq, Iran and Israel,

Countless of young soldiers and and armless citizens,

Rushing to grave like waterfall,

I still stooped to ask,

What is the cost of global peace?

Intertribal conflicts in India, religious intolerance in China,

Political ideological conflicts in north and south Korea,

Uncurtailed killings in the America and entire Europe,

What is the cost of global peace?

On the peak of Kilimanjaro I stand,

To blow the beagle of caution,

To the ears of an unconscious world,

On the volatility of globe on gun powder.

Our peace is on the verge of sliding

Off the edge of a peaceful cliff,

Into the abyss of an irreparable wars,

The cost of peace is still my quest.

Friends and folks,

Our writings should be noised to the ends of the world,

Till our political leaders on the global scale know,

That their personal interest should not be equated with global peace,

Till the world is pulled out of the corridors of war,

Our writings can be the cost of global peace.

  1. Another eloquent piece of writing. It reminded me of Lamentations in the Bible where the writer reflects on the desperate state of the world they live in. Times, alas do not change, thank you for sharing. Best wishes, A

      1. Oh lord, save it. What religion you belong to is based on where you live. If you lived in India, you’d likely be Hindu. If you lived in Iraq, you’d likely be Muslim. Religion is arbitrary. The only thing Religion brings the world is war

      2. Not really friend, the real cause of war is the arrogance, self-will and the hatred inherent in man.
Critically check this out, and you will find out the truth.
Thanks so much for your hearty comment. I love you indeed.

      1. “And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear. Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.”
        ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭51‬-‭52‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
        ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus did not condone the sword to be used to defend Him from being taken to be crucified. Jesus promoted forgiveness, love, and peace. When man used the name of religion to wage war it was their free will not works ordained by God. Please brother take time to get to know Christ, the works He wants us to perform. His war is not us to fight amongst ourselves but all together to fight against what causes our divides. May God bless you with revelation of His truths to see through the deceit of this world.

      2. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭KJV‬‬
God doesn’t want any one to die but all to find life through Jesus Christ.

      3. Well in the final analysis, the early men were not religious, yet killings, corruption, falsehood, hatred and war between kingdoms characterized their existence. In fact, the theory of existentialism dig deep into the idealist view of “the survival of the fittest” among men. As a matter of fact, the idea of ecological succession put forward by Charles Darwin is more applicable to men than plants and animals in the real sense of reality.
It will not however be out of place if I assert that the inherent wickedness in men did not start with this dispensation of humans, it is as old as human existence. In time series analysis, modern events of wickedness is an offshoot of the unquenched human tendency for superiority. Religion can be a catalyst no doubt, but when you check it out, you will discover that the naturally corrupt and wicked man cannot handle religion to it tenets, he (man) will only use religion as a tool for self gratification and not for humanity in love.
Religion is intangible, it is the matter of the heart, check out the man wearing the mask of religion, then your judgement will be upright.

    1. I humbly appreciate your perspective, but on the contrary, man is the problem here. Man is naturally greedy, hateful, domineering, covetous and corrupt. If everyone of us choose to live right today, the world will no peace.
I love you so much, how I wish we can see each other, I would have enjoyed the radiating gift of humanity in you.

    1. Honestly the truth!
Our leaders live in affluence with their gorgeous families in bliss, but daily tampering with the psycho-emotional state of minds of our young poor innocent citizens in the army to fight a war that is not necessary. I wish these leaders and their families can be at the forefront of the battle, they would have for long put an end to war.

  2. I think the peace is a pipe dream for the millennials and the future generations. Every leader is so selfish and only think about themselves and their families including the leaders of superpower. The common man is forced to be buried into the modern slavery called 9 to 5 job and if someone has some guts to raise a voice against such politicians, they are squeezed like bugs with violence or money power.
