DISEQUILIBRIUM

In the cool moment of the evening, when the moon is watching the setting of the sun from afar, there lies my thought on the couch of my cavity, pondering over the incongruity that defines humanity across our global community.

The rich, high and lofty  in their golden palaces, the wretched and lowly poor in the dark corners of the cities and dark huts. The sane in their right frame of minds attending to their respective daily obligations, the insane wondering nakedly on the corners of the streets scavenging on the dunghill.

The healthy, flailing muscles up and down the corridors, the sick, lying helplessly on the sick bay. The freeman, gallivanting around at will, the prisoner, incarcerated in a cubicle hiding from the sun. The White in their beautifully brightened castles, the Blacks in their dark cities at night. On and on the countless veracity of life, I could not stop wondering.

As the half moon peeps from the corner of her shadow, I placed life on the stasis, and discovered the imbalance nomenclature she bears. A bat whispered from the branch of a tree sitting close to my thought , “life is not balance”! The more I tried to comprehend this, the more I got confused and lost in thought.

Though life seems not balance across the balconies of our global communities, and human are not equal in terms of socioeconomic status, but empathy and love for fellow human can fill the gap created by the natural cause of life.

A world devoid of human compassion breds callous acts and wickedness against fellow humans, it breds hatred, nepotism, tribalism and sectionalism, it breds self centeredness, selfishness and self aggrandizement at the detriment of fellow humans.

Little wonder, the gap between the bourgeoisie and the proletariats on the social strata becomes increasingly widen than normal. The rich enjoys the accolades and the encomium of being the richest man/family in the village/city/country/continent and the world at large. While his next door neighbor romances penury and hunger on daily basis.

Political leaders use the mandate given to them by the masses to subjugate the masses. The worst case scenario is resident in Africa, where men in power steal the Commonwealth of their nation for their own selfish reasons, while the masses died of hunger, joblessness, malnutrition and untold diseases.

Developed countries across the world are not also guiltless, their unsatisfied quest to explore and to exploit lesser nations is so alarming. These big brother countries instigate artificial political unrest in lesser nations; for the purpose of exploitation, under the pretentious act of sending peace keeping mision to the affected nations. The situation in Sudan and Ukraine, as well as the intending political unrest in Mali, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Chad and Niger republic are currently on that same trajectory.

All of these anomalies in human incongruity had created a bottomless gulf between the rich and the poor in all human clan. Monopoly of power, wealth and resources are the basis of human socioeconomic problem. A single man/family/nation wants to have it all, not minding the needs of others.

How long will man continue to tread on a path that is devoid of compassion for a fellow man. I wonder if earthly riches can purchase a mansion on the other side of the grave. Why then are kings forcefully taking our commonwealth for their own personal use.

Let the brave hearted tell it in palaces, that love and compassion are missing on the throne, he that seats on the throne must look for these two, to avoid the painful rod of posterity.

The masses are not begging for arm, all we ask is what is legitimately ours, give us light, give us job and secure our streets, them our commonwealth we be circulated according to the capacity of each of us.

Use tax payer money to create an enabling economic environment for us all, and you will see poverty disappearing like a smoke in the air.

Kings in palaces, rule us in love, sincerity and with absolute integrity, then you will see our society and prosperity romancing each other on the street.

  1. That is well written, emotional and factual as the things exist today. So what is the solution? I am not much educated or have even ‘read’ much in these years to have a reasoned answer, but I think the imbalance was always there and is here to stay perpetually. You may today pool all the resources including all the movable and immovable wealth, the imbalance shall appear maybe within minutes when different people will do differently with their ‘new acquisition’.
Truly I donot have an answer to this issue though I agree the gulf is ever increasing between haves and have-nots and something need to be done asap.
I always thought and still hold this view that ‘proper education’ about all aspects of life is the key to reversing the widening gulf.
Thanks for Publishing this article, must be a food for thought for many.

    1. Thank you so much for your measureless thought on the subject matter.
Your candid concern is as good as mine. The socioeconomic imbalance in our society has come to stay as you have rightly said. However, love and compassion shown by the privileged and the leaders to the poor masses can go a long way as palliative measure, to keep a near equilibrium socioeconomic society. Education is also key as a relative solution.
Once again, thanks so much for your invaluable contribution to this discourse.
